UNDERSTANDING AND CARING FOR YOUR NEW LEATHER FURNITURE FROM WELLINGTON’S

Congratulations and thank you for your support of our family’s business.  We have put together a guide to understanding and care of your new leather furniture.

All the fine leather furniture brands we offer feature superior construction, comfort and styles that are not only fashionable but timeless.

Like all quality furniture, your leather furniture will require minimal maintenance to keep it looking pristine.  We hope this answers all your questions pertaining to your purchase.

Prior to your new leather furniture’s arrival, you should have the area cleared where the new will be placed. Also make sure any tight hallways that will be used for your delivery are cleared on any items that can be knocked off the walls or tables. If the furniture will be placed on a wood floor you should have protective coasters to place underneath all legs.

NEW LEATHER FURNITURE SEATS AND BACKS

Factories always overstuff both seats and back pillows. Your new furniture is the stiffest and firmest it will ever be. There is a period for the break-in. This is intentionally done. After the foam and fill relaxes the cushions will be the perfect size for the maximum comfort. As you begin to use your furniture slight differences in firmness between seat cushions will steadily disappear. If you have box seat cushions, they should be swapped out occasionally to keep wear even. This will help keep the cushions looking balanced.

Some leather types may display minor surface marks that will disappear with use. This could be any sort of range mark caused by insects, scratches, differences in grain or healed scars.

GENUINE LEATHER IS NOT MANMADE – IT IS THE BI-PRODUCT OF THE BEEF AND DAIRY INDUSTRY

Real cowhide leather is supple to the touch and very durable for furniture. It breaths naturally taking in moisture from the room keeping it soft and supple through the years.  It will remain room temperature no matter which season. Warm and cozy in the winter months and cool and refreshing through the summer. Since leather is a natural product, it is going to have a wear story from the life of the animal. Each hide is different and can include healed scars, marks from barb wire where the animal brushed up on, stretch marks, wrinkles insect bites and even brands.

Here are a few examples that you might find within your new leather furniture.

Healed scars, differences in grain pattern, shade variations and stretch marks.

CARE AND CLEANING LEATHER FURNITURE

Dust when you dust your other furniture. Avoid long periods of UV exposure., including skylights. Avoid sharp objects while enjoying your leather furniture. Arms and backs are not made for sitting. Only sit on the seat cushions.

Do not use after market leather cleaners or conditioners including saddle soaps, windex or harsh cleansers. This will void your leather warranty. Only use these leather cleaner and conditioner products on your furniture. For suede or nubuck leathers blot stain or spot with a color fast cloth and you may use a soft brush to dry. Never scrub, only blot.

USING YOUR MANUAL RECLINE LEATHER FURNITURE

How To Operate Your Reclining Leather Sofa, Recliner or Loveseat. (Manual)

To Open Recliner with a handle.

 1. Sit well back in the seat.

 2. Locate the handle hidden between the arm and seat cushion for inside handle or locate the outside handle on the outside of your seat.

 3. Pull back on to release the mechanism.

 4. Your weight will cause the chair to open and recline.

To Close:

 1. Sit upright.

 2. Apply pressure on the footrest using your legs.

 3. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE HANDLE TO CLOSE.  The handle is only used for opening.

To Open a Push Back Recliner

1. Place your arms on the arms of the recliner and push back.

2. To Close: Place your hands on the arms of the recliner and pull forward.

To Open a Power Recliner

1. Sit back, relax and push the button. Stop anywhere that feels comfortable.

2. To close: Stay seated and push the close button. This will be a quiet, smooth ride.

Best Way to Open Your Leather Sofa Sleeper

1. Remove seat cushions, place in a safe area.

2. If there is a leather flap covering the front edge of the mechanism, fold it down to protect the edge of the front rail against rubbing.

 3. Locate the handhold near the front edge of the mechanism.

 4. Open the bed by pulling up and out until the support bar rests on the floor.

5. Then lift the second support bar in the middle, guiding it to the floor.

 6. Some mattresses come standard with a TV headrest. Never sit on this. To open go to the opposite end of the mattress the part closest to the back pillows and gently pull up the mechanism. The headrest will lock into place.

 7. To close the headrest, lift, wait for the click and slowly release to the "down" position. To close a two-fold bed: Repeat operations in reverse order, always holding the support bar in the middle. After closing, replace leather flap.

Sectional Locks

Most sectional components come equipped with hooks or clips to keep them attached to each other and may require two people to engage them. Position yourself in front and have another person behind the sectional where the pieces connect. Together lift both pieces approximately 6"-10", align, lower the receiving piece onto the sectional hooks and set joined furniture piece on floor. To disengage, lift the "receiver" piece and guide away from the sectional hooks.

Keep leather furniture clean by dusting regularly, wiping spills quickly. A users guide to maintaining and understanding the best leather furniture brands.
