Our Story Begins at Home

Our story began back in 1982, right here in the Carolinas. Today, we’re proud to be a women-owned, family-run business based in Charleston, South Carolina—where our founder Donna still works side-by-side with her daughters.

With over 70 years of combined experience, we’ve built something rare: a business rooted in family, integrity, and true American Craftsmanship.

Donna, our founder, started Wellingtons in 1982. With her passion for decorating and quality home furnishings it was the perfect fit. Decades later she continues to work in the office every day. Her wisdom and love for what she does keep the staff motivated and customers love her suggestions. After 40 plus years she still takes part in all aspects of her company.

Stephanie, the oldest daughter, started with the company while attending college at Appalachian State University. That was almost 2 decades ago. Although her degree is in criminal justice, she finds herself more at home here. She loves working with customers and helping them design the leather furniture of their dreams. Energetic and dedicated to getting things done right and on time.

Caroline, the baby, is a graduate of Western Carolina University, with a degree in early childhood development. She chose to join Wellington’s full time in 2018. She oversees all social media and keeps the website up to date and looking colorful. She also enjoys working chats. We love having her here with us as she is a joy to have around and so talented.

Meet Samantha, the middle daughter. After attending college at East Tennessee State University she started her career as a student housing auditor and consultant. She continues with that career and works with us as she can. She enjoys doing both. This allows her to be independent and still stay part of our furniture family.

We’re not a corporation. We’re Donna, Stephanie, Caroline and Samantha—and we believe furniture is personal. That’s why we handle every order with care, answer questions ourselves, and build relationships that last.
