Repurpose Using An Old Armoire

Perhaps you have one? Maybe not, but you like the look of them or maybe you enjoy shopping for antiques or maybe just shopping in general? A good resource for finding an older armoire when shopping locally is antique stores or thrift shops. If not check out Craig’s lists or E-bay.  Armoires are frequently available at a reduced cost, although many need sprucing up. They work extremely well for storage of many things. They were originally intended for linens and clothing but newer versions are used for televisions and computers. They are multipurpose and can serve in many different rooms with many different styles.

One of my favorite uses is in a bathroom for robes, towels and bath salts. Restoring an armoire can be a great and fun project for a weekend and you can involve the kids to help out. Replace the bottom doors with chalk boards for notes and something for the kids to have a part of the project after it is complete. Let’s say their signature to the project that can be wiped clean on occasion.

An armoire can stand quietly in the corner or stand out bold in the center of your room. They are an excellent addition to a traditional space as well as a modern home. Whether you need the storage in your bathroom, bedroom or living room they are acceptable. Many homes today align their furnishing as eclectic and an armoire certainly fits right into the look.
